People Can Use Guarantee Of Services To Citizens Code And Track Their Complaints

Now on,citizens can insist on Sakala or guarantee of services to citizens (GSC) code for their applications, petitions and complaints lodged with police.
The GSC code will enable one to know the status of a case.
The state police on Tuesday brought 21 services under the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act of 2011.As soon as the project was launched there was a rush of SMSs from various parts of the state with details of status of petitions, applications and complaints filed before police.
Once the Sakala application is filed, the complainant will be asked to provide his or her mobile number. The mobile number will receive an auto-generated acknowledgement of a 15 digit GSC number, something similar to PNR number in railway tickets or PAN number. This will be in addition to a computerised acknowledgement.Citizens can access the status of their cases through internet or can get SMS alerts from time to time till the services are rendered. From filing an FIR to the time chargesheets are filed, the status of cases can be known, said Praveen Sood, additional director general of police (police computer wing).
Deputy chief minister R Ashoka who was present at the launch, said Sakala will go a long way in improving day-to-day interaction of people with police. He said there was a real-time policing in the city with installation of 180 surveillance cameras at traffic intersections and important locations.
Law and parliamentary affairs minister S Suresh Kumar said under Sakala scheme the state government received over 1.35 crore applications till 10am on Tuesday.Among these,1.32 crore were disposed with final order since the inception of Sakala on April 2,2012.
